Water Museum

The water museum is a project under the centre for Water Resources Development and Management (CWRDM). It broadly consists of water Heritage Museum Biopark, Land water and Biomass Management system, Water science Gallery and a live model of mid land Eco Preservation system.

The Water Heritage Museum focuses on the distinct history of water management in Kerala. The museum showcases the time tested water management techniques adopted by the farmers in Kuttanad and Kol land areas, Vembanad Kol wetland system, Vembanad Kol wetland system, Nila (River Bharathapuzha) valley civilization, traditional water lifting systems, religious and social role of water etc . All these are dedicated through pictures, photographs and miniature models.

The bio park is classified as star trees, water plants, Butterfly garden, Herbal garden, ferns etc. you can also visit the live model portals of Land water and biomass management, rain harvesting etc. About 3 acres of land with natural vegetation is now earmarked for Eco preservation. The Water Science gallery is yet to be opened.

The Museum is a part of CWRDM, a research institute under Govt. of Kerala. It is located near Kozhikode city. The shortest route is via Medical College. Get down at Mundikkal Thazham. From here it is about 1km. Or if from Wayanad road, get down at Kunnamangalam, hire an autorikshaw, it is about 2km to CWRDM.

Admission is free.

Timing : 10.30 am to 4pm(Closed on Sundays, 2nd Saturday of every month and other Govt holidays)
