A fast growing city like Cochin requires a comprehensive plan to meet the demands and requirements in Traffic and Transport.
The technological aspects and works are carried out by KITCO.
Mobility Hub at Vyttilla will be the changing face of Cochin, commercial capital of Kerala since this site connects Allapuzha, Coimbatore, Idduki, Kottayam and Thrissur through National Highway 47, which gives connectivity with National Highway 17 and National Highway 49. The airport is approximately 25 km from the proposed site. The National Waterway 3 is also located very near to the site, and it is connected to Kollam and Kottapuram. The buses will enter the mobility hub through the Kaniyampuzha Road.
By stopping many inter-State buses here, by that traffic congestion will also be reduced within the city. It sprawls in 25 acres with an built up area of 13,70,000 sq.ft. It offers 5,000 direct employment. There would be space to park 220 buses, 900 cars and 120 auto rickshaws.
The terminus will have a restaurant,, coffee shops, clean toilets, shops, a business centre and cyber cafe, modular seating and good lighting. Monitoring of bus movements through closed circuit TV and parking facilities at the ground level are among the facilities planned.
Taking a cue from airlines, the KSRTC terminus will have an air-conditioned waiting room for passengers .
By basing operations in Vytilla, the KSRTC and private buses would be able to save huge amounts on fuel, apart from the time saved in not entering the city.
