But for Parameswaran apart from the earlier said natural anguish of an artist, he has to say an anecdote behind each piece of creativity.
THANAL (THE HAVEN)
To begin with his work ‘Thanal’ (The Haven) which Mr. Parameswaran consider as his mind on the night of September 5th, 1997 when he heard the sad demise of Mother Teresa. A light that lit the world with love and peace was always an inspiration for him and the very existence of ‘The Missionaries of Charity’ has always overwhelmed him.
To put tribute to Mother Teresa Mr. Parameswaran decided to express his love and respect towards her cerebral work and it took almost 3 years to complete it in his mind. Gave soul and blood to his work and mother Teresa with all her mercy, love and holiness came out from his mind to canvas with all purity and exuberance.
The portrait ‘Thanal’ depicts Mother Teresa as an enormous banyan tree which has its roots spread world wide. One can see in the main trunk of the tree, The Mother holding a weak baby close to her heart with an expression of empathy, love and care for the wounded millions across the globe. The branches of the tree have in it, the Holy Sister who serve in the Missionaries of Charity. This illustration explain that Missionaries of Charity has its roots world wide and is there to help the poor and the downtrodden. The leaves of the tree show the characteristic pattern of the white saree with three blue lines at the border, which is the uniform of the sisters of Missionaries of Charity. The dove in the background of Thanal’ spreads the message of peace and love world wide.
The 4 ft height and 5 ft breadth ‘Thanal’ has the banyan tree emerging from the surface of the earth which gives the sense of spreading Holy Message of Love and Peace across the globe breaking all limits. ‘Thanal’ has a basic tone of bluish grey with a tinge of olive green in it.
Mr.Parameshwaran took almost three years to finish ‘Thanal’ which he completed in five coats of paint with Chinese made Pebeo oil paint on canvas. The artist got numerous accolades to his credit in which he Kanayi Kunhiraman’s response that “This work will become one among the best tem pieces of art around the world” was of great inspiration for Mr.Parameshwaran. The other is from Sister Nirmala, the present Head of Missionaries of Charitywhen he send a small photo print of ‘Thanal’, received a letter saying that they have placed the small copy of ‘Thanal’ at Mother Teresa’s tomb which made Parameshwaran feel pride and humble towards the honour that he received.
