About Unique Identification Number:
The UID indicates unique identity of every citizen and informations will be saved in a central database along with the details like photograph, impression of left and right hand thumb, eye-ball features of the person
It will just identify a citizen and will not be considered as a proof of citizenship
It can be used as a proof of identity at many places like while opening an account in bank, getting passport and driving license. You will not need to furnish different proofs of identity every time. The number would act as a source of authentic information.
Unique Identification Number will improve service standards and increase satisfaction among people. It ensures better delivery of services and welfare schemes to the people, especially the poor and marginalised.”
