Snake Boat Race – Rowing Through Hearts!

A road show with a novelty – Kerala Tourism organized a snake boat rowing demonstration in the river Thames has been scheduled for the coming London Olympics in 2012.
Such an event at the Olympics venue would pave way for 600 million across the globe witnessing the snake boat race live for the first time in their life. It is sure that the world will look aghast by the action and song-back contingent of 114 men in uniform rowing. This will surely catch the attention of world towards our God’s Own Country.
Kerala’s backwaters, nature’s bounty, the silken beaches, the green meadows, the peaks and hill stations would naturally come to the fore as a must see tourist place in the world. This boat race will in turn come out as a cultural promotion of our land in United Kingdom, where we have massive inbound tourists.
The tourist inflow in the state is all set to create new heights. Kerala already a must see destination by major international magazines would naturally become the first choice among globetrotters. The mission is not only to brand Kerala but also to create awareness in public to protect the sanctity of the environment and how to attract the tourists to the charm of Kuttanad.
So apart from showcasing Kerala, it is an operation named ‘ Save Kuttanad See Kuttanad ‘ which is the rice bowl of Kerala. Noted for its farming below sea level, the land of Kuttanad possesses a social-cultural fabric of its own.
The mission is the brain child of Keraleeyam, a leading NGO from Kerala with the support of Government Of Kerala. Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India has promised to provide one crore rupees for this campaign to showcase Kerala before the world in the big canvas of Olympics. Along with Government other public and private sector organizations has promised to support the campaign. After this campaign, Kerala hopes to get more tourists for her season and off-season
