Seminar on Mobile number Portability at Thiruvanathapuram

A  State-level seminar and exhibition on mobile number portability (MNP) will be held on April 27th, 2011 at YMCA auditorium, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The event is being organized by Trivandrum Management Association (TMA), an affiliate of the All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. This 25 year old organization of professional managers is working hard for the excellence of business management in Kerala by conducting management education and industrial training.

Several issues related to mobile number Portability (MNP) and the measures how to tackle it will be discussed in detail in the seminar.

What is Mobile number Portability?

Department of Telecommunications allow cell phone users  shift to a new operator without changing numbers . It will give mobile  users the freedom to choose their service provider while retaining their numbers. For the consumer , now there is a choice , for the service provider it  brings in more competition as they have to provide more efficient and quality service ,the more likely that consumers will choose you.

Nationwide roll out of mobile number portability has come into effect  on January 20th, 2011.  Within 2 months of the mobile number portability (MNP) launch around 38 lakhs customers in the country have applied to change their operators  whereas  two lakh subscribers have applied in Kerala to change their service providers. In this scenario, this seminar is relevant as large number of rejections , complaints and delays for migration pertaining to MNP exist in the process.

There would be a seminar lecture in the evening on the subject ‘Mobile Number Portability in Kerala: Role of Service Providers and Advantages to Customers’ and it will be inaugurated by Premachandra, Chief General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., Thiruvananthapuram. The heads/CEOs of all mobile operators  will attend the event to  outline  their companies merits.

Each participating mobile service provider will have one information portal in the exhibition  and public can visit this between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to get the details such as MNP  advantages, procedures for changing service provider etc.
