Ponmudi

Ponmudi, 61 km from Thiruvananthapuram.   This charming hill resort, Ponmudi is situated 915 m above sea level. This hill station is embroidered with winding, wooded paths and wild orchids grow profusely on these hillsides. There is a deer park near this hill station and excellent trekking trails are available.

A mere one and a half hour’s road journey separates the city bred of Thiruvananthapuram from the fresh and invigorating locales of Ponmudi Hills. This is a quaint little hill station just on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram at a distance of 61 kms. It is 912 metres above sea level. It is full of nature’s wonderful sights. With small streams and rivulets with fresh and cold running water and greenery everywhere and butterflies and exotic flowers that one wishes to carry back home, Ponmudi lacks nothing. It has panoramic views on every nook and corner. There are beautiful tea estates all neatly placed and terraced that one can visit along with the mist as your companion. It is a great place for the adventurous avid trekkers and also a great place to rejuvenate tired city souls. There are all kinds of cottages, homesteads, inns and hotels of all budgets to suit every pocket. The name Ponmudi meaning golden crown says it all.
