Palaruvi Waterfalls
Palaruvi, which means “Stream of Milk” is located 75 kms from Kollam town. This beautiful waterfall hurtles down from a height of 300 feet and collects into a small and shallow pool down beneath, where visitor are allowed for swimming. The Pallaruvi has some medicinal value and Ayurvedic physicians sometimes prescribe a bath in the waters of Palaruvi. This place is easily accessible by road or rail.
Palaruvi, 300-foot waterfall, was once the retreat of Travancore Maharajas,break from their usual activities, to cool their body and mind and get refreshed. It is the most beautiful picturesque waterfalls in South Kerala situated in Kollam District on Kollam-Shencottai Road. Palaruvi means Stream of Milk. Palaruvi waterfalls looks like Milky streams gushing out from the rocks, providing an enchanting view to visitors. Milky waters of Palaruvi forms a gorgeous pool which is ideal for bathing. This incredible waterfall can be reached following a trek through dense forest. Nearby Mandapam with a flight of steps in all its grandeur amidst picturesque surroundings represent the bygone raja era. The waters of this fall seemed to have medicinal properties.

Palaruvi trekking
A three hour trekking, covering 6 kms, up to the waterfalls and down, passing through jungle streams, caves, evergreen forests to reach the top of the fall.
Kurishumala Trekking
8 km distance will be covered during the six hour trek includes rock climbing ,walking through forests.Then trek to the Vilakkumaram-Rajacoupe to see natural habitat of endemic and endangered Chenkurinji. From here, you can have a glimpse of the beauty of neighbouring Tamilnadu. A minimum of 5 trekkers is required at the time of trekking.
