New timing of Thekkady Boating
Thekkady, is one of India’s most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries, where you can watch wildlife at close range. Periyar forest of Thekkady spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks. This sanctuary is surrounded by an artificial lake and Thekkady boating is the main attraction here.
One and hour boating in the Periyar lake gives a chance to see the wild animals in close range which comes to the banks of the reservoir to drink water. Mostly elephants, deer, monkeys are seen and if lucky enough one could spot a tiger. Thekkady is a place for adventure tourism and trekking. Main trekking areas in Thekkady are Kurisumala near Kumily, Pullumedu, Ottakathalamedu near Kumily, Grampi near Vandiperiyar Murikkady, Pandikuzhi, Chellarkovil and Gavi.
The Forest Department and the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation Ltd conduct boating trips from Thekkady. The new timing of the Thekkady boating is as follows: From 7.30 a.m. to 9 a.m., 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m., 11.15 a.m. to 12.45 p.m., 1.45 p.m. to 3.15 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
