New categories in National Tourism Awards – Best Heritage Walk and Best Heritage City
Tourism occupies a prominent place in India’s agenda as a crucial engine for income and employment. The new categories in national tourism awards were added to keep pace with changing trends in the tourism industry and to encourage and acknowledge efforts made for development and promotion of niche tourism segment. This year new category of awards will give away to Best Heritage Walk and Best Heritage City.
Ministry of Tourism, Government of India presents National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel and tourism industry every year. Organizations who promote heritage walks will be considered for best heritage walks both guided and other wise on a set route covering the heritage sites of a city/destination and lots of opportunities to explore magnificent walking tracks free of crowds. Walk should have been in operation at least for one year as on 1st December 2011. The applications should be sent along with details of the walks including sketch maps, photographs, videos, user etc.
India’s heritage destinations never cease to amaze and evoke emotions – that range from wonder to awe. Those cities promote heritage tourism and awareness can apply for Best Heritage City with details of conservation efforts, photographs, videos and other details.
