Kochi International Marina
The magnificent Kochi will soon become home to a world class marina when Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) will started its operation of an international marina on the Bolghatty islands on 24th April, 2010.
The marina will widen the tourism scope in the city and woo seafarers to Kerala.
A three-storied marina and recreation house and facilities for berthing 34 yachts at a time are the major components of this Marina.
“The work on the marina and the recreation house had already been completed” said KTDC Chairman, Cherian Philip. The Marina will be commissioned by Union Defense Minister A K Antony.
Of the total cost of Rs 8.21crore spent on this project, the Union government has contributed Rs 4 crore. A two-lane road has also been constructed from the first Gosri Bridge to the hotel at a cost of Rs.2 crore.
The Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organization (KITCO) were the project consultants for the first phase of the marina. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan laid the foundation stone on March 1, 2008.
Facilities for berthing another 16 yachts and waterfront facilities have been planned in the second phase of the project.
