Know the status of your files and petitions online through IDEAS – a File tracking system initiated Kerala Government

Following Kerala CM office live telecast, another major announcement from the Kerala Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy has come. After the weekly cabinet meeting, CM briefed the media about the new administrative implementation of  IDEAS ( Information and Data Exchange Advanced System), it is a File Tracking System. It would ensure tracking of files and petitions already submitted through online. If you have submitted an application to any department, the petitioner can get the updated status on his petition online and he should not come and check with Secretariat again and again.

What is IDEAS -  IDEAS is an advanced file information system developed on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) platform. This web based application monitor and help which has features right from diarizing of receipts/files, updating its status, opening of new files, tracking the movement of the files within the office, dispatch of letters/files and finally records management. There is also a provision for SMS that reverts with status of a petition or file against its reference number

IDEAS was developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC), Kerala supported by the Kerala State IT Mission. IDEAS is widely being used in the Offices of 12 Ministers and 28 Offices of the Administrative wings in the Government Secretariat under the Secretariat Internet Communication System. This system has also already been implemented in the office of the Transport Commissioner, Office of the Director of Technical Education, Legislative Assembly (Niyamasabha) and the Kerala State Planning Board.

Thus a faster administrative system is envisaged by the UDF Government. It will help the internal administrative communication between various departments. This also initiates department officers to record any query or petition and to make faster action.
