Flights are available from Kochi to Lakshadweep. Agatti is the only island in this union territory which has an airport and thus is called as the “Gateway to Lakshawadweep”.

By Air: Cochin International Airport links Lakshadweep with other parts of the country. Regular flights from Air India, Kingfisher and Indian Airlines ply to various destinations of the country Both boat and helicopter transfers are available from Agatti to Bangaram and Kadmat. The helicopter may be the only option in monsoon season from May to September.The flight from Cochin to Agatti takes approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

By Ship: One can even reach Lakshadweep through ships as well. MV Tipu Sultan, MV Bharat Seema, MV Amindivi and MV Minicoy operates between Cochin and Lakhshadweep and this is organized by the Lakshadweep Administration. The journey takes about 14 to 20 hours. Proper accommodation with basic amenities and prompt services are offered by the ships. Different types of cabins, seating arrangements, cafes, bars, deck lounge, video shows and many more facilities are available on board. Every care is taken to provide the passengers utmost relaxation on their voyage to the picturesque island of Lakshadweep.

Lakshadweep Islands are a restricted area for security reasons, which is why all the tourists visiting the place have to obtain a permit to enter the islands. One needs to provide some very significant information to get it made which includes passport details among other proofs of identity.
