Global Ayurveda Festival from February 9 to 14 next year

Kerala Government is geared up to host the Global Ayurveda Festival, from February 9 to 14 next year in the State Capital Thiruvananthapuram. The six day event is being organized by Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA) in partnership with the state Ayurveda Department. The festival will be conducted at the Kanakakunnu Palace grounds in the city.

Besides presentation of papers and deliberations by Ayurveda experts, there will be host of programmes like buyer-seller meet, health expo with more than 300 stalls, expert clinics, and international seminar. Ayurveda students’ meet, workshops, and a job fair would be major highlights. The main aim of the Global Ayurveda Festival is to promote the vast potential of the ancient Indian system of medicine and wellness.

An exhibition displaying the latest in the research and development in ayurveda, medicinal plants and herbal products, and work out strategies for tapping the global market for Indian medicinal products.

Different universities, medical colleges and research organisations in the sector will put up programmes to ramp up the public awareness about this branch of medicine. Stalls set up by resorts that are into Ayurveda medical tourism, Ayurveda food courts along with diet counseling and traditional practitioners will be the major attraction of the event.

The meet will give clear insight into the integration of streams of medicines like Ayurveda, Yoga, Sidda, Unani, and Homoeopathy for a holististic approach. Professional and industry bodies like Ayurveda Medical Officers Association and Ayurveda Medicine Manufacturers Association also co-operate with the event

An organising committee has been set up to co-ordinate the affairs of the festival. The preparations for the event were kicked off on Thursday with Kerala Health Minister Adoor Prakash releasing the brochure. He said that government is formulating mechanisms to control the rising prices of the medicines.
