Forest Fest 2011 in Trivandrum

The United Nations declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests to raise awareness of sustainable forest management and conservation. The year 2010 was  the year of Bio Diversity.   Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department decided  to organize Forest Fest 2011 from February  6 to 10 at various venues in Trivandrum. The venues include Kanakakkunnu Palace, Sooryakanthi Festival Ground and Nishagandhi Auditorium. It would be an excellent platform to increase awareness of the connections between  healthy forests, ecosystems and  people.  The tribes (adivasis) from various parts of Kerala would be a  active part in the festival and will present their primitive tribal songs.

There will be seminars and discussions on the topics of  conservation of forest and bio diversity ,environmental issues and many more. Stalls of wildlife associations & important forest products and book exhibition  will be there as a part of the event.  Exhibition of Adivasi food and cultural programmes by them is organized to bring to light, the lifestyle and cultural heritage of the tribes in Kerala.

The chief minister, the forest minister and other ministers, opposition leader, MPs, Panchayat Presidents and others included in the organizing committee of Forest Fest 2011.
