			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">Munnar – breathtakingly beautiful – a heaven of peace and tranquility is an ideal tourist destination in God’s own country. Located 1600 m above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. The hill station offer cool, misty and calm environment. The delightfully refreshing colonial air makes it the most sought-after destinations in South India. Being Kerala’s premium hill station, Munnar offers a visual treat of the misty mountain slopes, which are nicely laden by green carpet of sprawling tea estates interspaced by undulating valleys, winding roads and Pathways.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Munnar town retains its colonial British charm with its elegantly neat bungalows and cottages, and beautifully laid out gardens filled with flowers. The refreshing aroma of fresh spices, tea and roasting coffee beans hangs heavily in the air. An array of orderly tea bushes, India’s highest tea estates, stretches for miles interrupted by pockets of forests teeming with local fauna and flora. The Neelakurinji, which blooms once in 12 years, covers the hill sides of Munnar with its beautiful blue colour. The next due of the Neelakurinji flower will be on 2018.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">With the tag of hill station, Munnar is blessed with Mother Nature’s richest flora and fauna. A true paradise on earth, Munnar is also famous for the endangered Nilgiri Tahrs that roams across the jungle slopes and the wild elephants grazing across the jungle.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Tourist spots in Munnar</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Anamudi</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Anamudi, the highest peak in southern India situated at a height of 2,695m above sea level can be viewed from Munnar. The hill slopes here offers a rich collection of rare flora and fauna. The unique inhabitant of the park is the Atlas moth, the largest of its kind in the world. Other rare wildlife species here are the Nilgiri Tahr, Nilgiri Langur, the lion-tailed macaque, leopards, tigers, etc. Trekking options are also available. Facilities are provided for tourists to go on foot up to Anamudi hill.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Devikulam</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Devikulam located at a distance of around 7km from Munnar is an idyllic hill station. With its velvet lawns verdant hills, gushing streams, exotic flora and fauna and the cool mountain air, makes this place a rare experience to tourists. The Devikulam Lake is also known as Sita Devi lake. According to the mythology, Goddess Sita came to this place and took a dip in the Devikulam Lake. This lake with its mineral waters and picturesque surroundings is also ideal for trout fishing. The nearby Pallivasal Waterfall is also fascinating. Amidst in the lush greenery, the waterfall offers a cool respite to the discerning travelers.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Eravikulam National Park</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Stretching over 97 km across Rajamalai Hills, Eravikulam is one of Kerala’s finest wildlife reserves. Located 16 km from Munnar, this park provides unforgettable experience for any tourists. The combination of vast grasslands and shola forests create breathtaking scenery. The unique inhabitant of the park is the Atlas moth, the largest of its kind in the world. Other rare wildlife species here are the Nilgiri Tahr, Nilgiri Langur, the lion-tailed macaque, leopards, tigers, etc.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Chithirapuram</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Chithirapuram retains its colonial British charm with its bungalows, sleepy little cottages and old playgrounds and courts. Situated 10km from Munnar, Chithirapuram is home to the Pallivasal hydel power project. Tourists can plan a tour to explore the unexplored by hiking along the vast tea plantations by savoring its lush green scenic beauty.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Kundale Tea Plantation</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Kundale Tea Plantation gives you an opportunity to view the production of one of the world’s most popular drinks. Tourists can avail the facility to watch and learn the process of tea production; starting from the plant all the way to the tea cup. Local planters gather together on Sundays making it an ideal time to visit this place. The lake located near the plantation is an ideal picnic spot especially during afternoons for having a calming rest.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Nyayamakad</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Nyayamakad located between Munnar and Rajamala is an excellent picnic spot and trekking point. This enchanting land of magnificient waterfalls with water cascading down from a height of around 1,600 meters is situated 10km away from Munnar. The nearby Pallyvasal Hydel Power Project and the vast tea-plantations are the other major attractions.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Pothamedu</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Located 6 kms from Munnar is this small village – Pothamedu, inhabited by the local people. It is one of the major plantation hubs of Munnar, which offers an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations. For an adventure seeker it’s an ideal place for trekking and long mountain walks. The rolling hills and the lush mountains offer breathtaking scenery. Being a very high place, the view from Pothamedu is spectacular.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Cheeyappara</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Cheeyappara waterfalls located between Neriamangalam and Adimali on the Kochi-Madurai National Highway, is one of Kerala’s most splendid waterfalls. Here Water cascading down over seven steps offers real feast for the eyes. It’s an ideal place where Tourists can play near the water-body, swim or just laze around. Trekking options are also available. The nearby Valara waterfall is another attraction. Both these waterfalls are well connected by the cities and towns of Kerala.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Marayoor</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Located 40 kms from Munnar, on the way to Udumalapet is Marayoor the- “The Hidden Village” or a rain-shadow village. Surrounded by tall Rocky Mountains that are about 6000 ft above is a combination of ancient caves and sandalwood trees. It is the only natural sandalwood forest in Kerala. The Marayoor sandalwood factory owned by the Forest Department of Kerala is where one can see how the sandalwood oil is processed from this precious wood.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Marayoor is not only famous for its sandalwood forests but also for its series of muniyaras (caves) dating back to the New Stone Age. The rock paintings found here is of archeological importance. The dolmenoid burial chambers consisting of four erect stones covered by a horizontal capstone dates back to pre-historic excavation. The Thoovanam waterfall and the nearby children’s park are other major attractions.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Nadukani</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This natural picturesque spot covered with green-clad hills, silvery streams, valleys and paddy fields offers a spectacular view of the vast country side. Situated at an altitude of 3,000 ft. above sea level, Nadukani offers excellent views of the Moolamattam town, Malankara Lake, Thodupuzha and the Muvattupuzha River that snakes it way down, joined by various tributaries. Close proximity to Kulamavu, Nadukani is about 35 kms from Thodupuzha on the way to Painvu. It is home to rare species of wildlife like the hornbill, wild rabbits, spotted sambhar, jungle mainah, elephants etc. The Paramada Echo point offers a stunning view of the nearby Thodupuzha Taluk, Thumbichi Mount, Uppukunni, Nallikani tribal village and the meandering Thodupuzha River.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Top Station</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Home to some of the highest tea plantations in India, Top station is situated 1,880 m above sea level. As the name suggests it is one of the top most popular tourist attraction in Munnar. This place gives a real “above the clouds” experience and offers a panoramic view of the rolling green hills. An old trade spot, Top Staion lies on the state border of Iduki district of Kerala and Theni district of Tamilnadu. One can see even the Madurai District of Tamilnadu from this Top Staion. Situated at an altitude between 1700 and 2,200m, and 41 km drive from Munnar, Top Station offers panoramic views of the landscape and the valley down below. Top Station derives its name from a ropeway that connected it via Middle Station to Lower Station in the valley.</p>
