Emirates Airline is looking at additional flights from India
The international airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Emirates Airline is looking at additional flights from India. Currently, the airline operates from 10 locations in India including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi and Kozhikode. For increasing capacity and additional flights from India, the airline is in discussions with DGCA to operate from Bangalore and Delhi.
Emirates has to tap the increasing demand from Indian business and tourism sectors. The carrier is also awaiting clearances from the government to fly its Airbus A380 aircraft.
According to an official of Emirates Airlines, the carrier is launching the new Dubai-India flight with a view to cashing in on the withdrawal of many international airlines as well as reduction in the frequency by some others on the Indian route.
And, during this period, while Gulf Air, the flag-carrier airline of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and British Airways, the national airline of the United Kingdom, pulled out from India, the German carrier Lufthansa cut the frequency of its service
According to Tim Clark, President, Emirates, many passengers of Emirates use Dubai as a stopover destination en route to cities like Zurich, London, Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Emitates launched flights to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina on January 3, 2012. Daily service to Dublin has also stared and it became 118th destination to be connected to Dubai.
