E – Toilet in Kerala – Public Toilets in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi going E way
Dirty public toilets may be a thing of the past…..
Government of Kerala installed e- toilets named ‘ Delight ‘ in Thiruvananthapuram, are fully automated, with automated payment collection, door opening, flushing, floor cleaning, sterilising and cleaning system. As a permanent solution for a clean and hygenic public sanitation, Eram Public Solutions, the Technopark- based company introduced E Toilet. It would bring a public toilet revolution in Kerala as well as a public sanitation revolution.
To provide world class sanitation facility for tourists, Eram installed two e-toilet units in Museum and Kanakakunnu palace, Thiruvananthapuram. Discussions have been progressing with Kerala tourism Department to install more units in all prominent tourist destinations all over Kerala. Kochi corporation jointly with CREDAI( Confederation of Real Estate Developer’s Associations of India) is setting up of e-toilets in strategically hot spots of the Kochi city.
Described as the first Indian version of the European public toilets, these can be a one-stop solution to overcome the hygiene-related issues associated with the maintenance and use of manual public toilets. These unmanned electronic toilets aim to revolutionise the way you perceive public toilets.
An e-toilet occupies around 20 square feet and has two doors – a sliding door at the front, and a normal door ahead of the toilet. The E-toilet features automated door opening, power flushing, automatic closet washing and sterilization and automatic platform cleaning mechanism, all backed by SMS alerts to inform the control room about the status of water tank and bio gas plant in the event of any errors or failures.
As soon as you drop a coin in the flip, the door to the toilet slides open, the light and exhaust fan also turn on. After use, in case you forget to flush, the toilet flushes itself automatically and sterilizes the commode too.
The average life of a E Toilet unit is estimated to be around 7-10 years.
