Durbar Hall Kochi renovation project envisages public hangout space

Durbar Hall Kochi renovation project inaugurated by Kerala Tourism Minister A.P. Anilkumar and the tourism department has allocated Rs. 1.40 crore for the project. The work is being jointly carried out by the district administration, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) and the district Nirmithi Kendra.

The century old Durbar Hall, the best art gallery in Kochi city and Durbar Hall ground, both will get facelift soon. the project is being conceived in a manner to make possible staging of cultural programmes on a daily basis and to screen world classic films once in a week.

The state-of-the-art projector and sound and lighting arrangements will be provided at the stage, which will be restructured to facilitate screening of 70 mm films with digital effect.

The height of the stage will be increased marginally to ensure visibility to spectators from any part of the ground.

An aesthetically-designed walkway with seats will feature on the roof over the stage and this will be one of the main attractions of the beautification project.

The stage will be given a facelift making it fit to host world class exhibitions. A green room will be set alongside the stage.

The back side of stage will be developed in a way to facilitate screening of films.
