KSRTC – Kerala State Road Transportaion Corporation launched its double decker services. Double decker bus services flagged off by transport Minister Jose Thettayil in connection with Vytilla bus terminal-cum-mobility hub commissioning on Saturday, February 26th 2011. Majestic double decker bus was the first bus started services from Vyttila mobility hub. The bus is likely to conduct circular service in the city. A double decker bus was a sight of the past. Now,old double decker buses are re introduced by KSRTC with special features and is operating in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. In Thiruvananthapuram, the bus will be operated on the Peroorkada, Sasthamangalam, Medical College and Shanghumugham routes.
KSRTC has observed a bus day on December 18th. This move is aimed at popularizing public transport and discouraging use of private vehicles that result in reduced air pollution and road accidents. The main objective of Bus Day is to see what service improvements could be made by KSRTC to wean people away from private modes of transport onto buses. There has been many moves and efforts from KSRTC to boost public transportation system. KSRTC has introduced many the new generation buses . After the low floor A/c buses and Thiru Kochi buses, KSRTC is now introducing double decker buses to attract more passengers to avail the KSRTC transportation mode.
