Cochin Carnival 2011 – Cochin geared for an absolute party time
The Cochin Carnival 2011 is one of the most awaited event and Cochin is geared for an absolute party time. The tourists who are looking for a fun filled vacation time in Kerala, can visit during the Cochin carnival.
It is a merry making feast observed during the last week of December every year in Fort Kochi. This has become an occasion for the youth to enjoy the party-like atmosphere. With unique games, ghazal nights, competitions and illumination during these days, Fort Kochi puts on a festive look. Dressed up in fancy dresses, everyone, children in particular, is seen bursting with enthusiasm.
City administration already began preparations for this grand carnival. Numerous cozy little restaurants and eating joints dotting the edges of the Fort Cochin beach and adventure-cum-ethnic food court from Madhya Pradesh provide the perfect option to those who want to grab a quick bite. The beach is also quite famous for its remarkable fishing nets and it will be illuminated during the carnival. Carnival organizers proposed to illuminate Goshree bridges and the key cranes at Vallarpadom terminal.
DTPC’s Vasantholsavam and the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival will conduct events, including magic shows, riddle games, adventure sports, entertainment nights and so on at street corners. Everywhere there is scintillating view, banging street parades and dance, cheerful celebrations all across Fort Kochi.
People from various religions forget everything and participate with equal zeal and love in the plethora of joy
There will be a 12-km long cross- country race from Kannammaly to Fort Kochi’s Vasco Da Gama Square organized by Sea Divers Club. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000, along with the trophy. Adventure sports will get another dimension by conducting balloon walking in which people will be taken on the waters of Fort Kochi inside an oxygen-filled mega balloon
The corporation will ply night buses from Fort Kochi on the New Year day.
