Yet, while many of its beauty spots have been popular and explored, the serene district has many more places that have not figured in the map of major tourist attractions, despite their breathtaking ambience- the Kanthanpara waterfalls for one.

The beauty that cascades down 30 metres is blessed with unpolluted, fresh surrounding with only the murmur of frothy water distracting you.

About 20 kilometers southeast of Kalpetta, Kanthanpara is an easily accessible get-away. For years, it has been the haven of nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. As people got more and more interested in trekking and camping, Kanthanpara’s potential as an adventure spot has also grown.

As a few home stays also came up in this place en route to the waterfall, the picturesque destination has augmented its popularity as a honeymoon-cum-picnic spot. While the fall is worth visiting round the years, September to May is the season recommended by the local people here, Kanthanpara is also closer to the more well-known Meenmutti and Soochippara falls as well-with may a tourist clubbing a visit here with a trip to Edakkal Caves, Muthanga Sanctuary or Chembra peak.

The vicinity of Kanthanpara falls is filled with a aroma of tea leaves as it is situated quite closer to the tea gardens in this area. Wishing to relax with the gurgling water and soft breeze playing music in the ears, there are more and more of solo campers coming here.

Kombaikani Waterfalls

Maramala Waterfalls

Maramala, exactly 7km from Teekoy rubber estate, this waterfall lies a few kilometers away from Erattupetta. To reach the waterfalls one has to trek through the estate over the rocky path. Meenvallam Waterfalls

Ten step waterfalls is the main attraction of this place.  Located near Thuppanadu river  originate from Kalladikode Mountain. Waterfalls from nearly 20- 25 feet and collected in depth of nearly 15 -20 feet. Of the ten waterfalls eight can be located in the upper hills inside the dense forest. Rest two can be accessible only through trekking or jeep.  Best time to visit is April-May.

Mulamkuzhi Waterfalls

Palaruvi Waterfalls

Palaruvi, which means “Stream of Milk” is located 75 kms from Kollam town. This beautiful waterfall hurtles down from a height of 300 feet and collects into a small and shallow pool down beneath, where visitor are allowed for swimming. Thusharagiri
