Niranam Poets

Niranam gave birth to three well-known poets called Madhava Panikkar and Sankara Panikkar and Rama Panikkar. These poets were populary known as Niranam Poets. They belong to the Kannassa family and the first two were the uncles of Rama Panikkar. They lived in between 1350 and 1450 and made valuable contribution to the Malayalam Literature. Thrissur  Pooram is widely known as mother of all poorams or ‘the pooram of all poorams’.  This spectacular  festival is marked by the  visual gorgeousness, numbers of  gold caparisoned  elephants  gather  in a single place, amazing firework display, rhythmic and magical sounds of Panchavadyam,colourful Kudamattam, excited and fervent crowd – simply no comparison with any other festival. Thrissur Pooram celebrated every year in the month of Medam (mid-April to mid-may) as per the malayalam calendar.  This years Thrissur Pooram will be held on Thursday, May 12th, 2011. This is the biggest temple festival in Kerala celebrated in the premises of Vadakkunnathan Temple in Thrissur district. Many tourists visit the Netherlands just to see the bright coloured flower and the astonishing view over the bulb fields.  More than three billion tulips are grown each year and two-thirds of the vibrant blooms are exported, mostly to the U.S. and Germany. Sai Baba passes away today ( 24th April,2011) at 7.40am at the age of 85 years old. He was suffering from multiple organ failure. His body will be taken to Pransanti Nilayam Ashram and will be kept in Sai Kulwant Hall for the next two days. Arrangements will be made for darshan of his body will be after 6 pm today. (more…)
