Grand Kerala Shopping Festival 2011 – a huge success and significant factor in Kerala’s economic growth

Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) 2011 was a huge success, judging from the overall boost to the trade sector. It has become a significant factor in Kerala’s economic growth and development in recent times. According to the tourism Minister, the huge success of Kerala’s own shopping festival has paved the way for the cumulative growth of the State. The total revenue, both direct and indirect, from tourism touched Rs. 19,037 crore last year compared to Rs. 17,348 crore in 2010 showing an increase of 9.74 per cent. (more…)

Tourist visa on arrival at airports in India to promote Domestic Tourism

India’s first start up village, will be come up at Kinfra Park in Kalamassery near Kochi. It is India’s first public-private partnership (PPP) set up on a 15,000-square feet space. Ban on plastic bags in Kochi implemented by Kochi Corporation, has stated that the decision of  ban on plastic carry bags of less than 40 microns from January 16, which is based on the judgement of the Apex Court. Emirates Airline is looking at additional flights from India

The international airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Emirates Airline is looking at additional flights from India. Currently, the airline operates from 10 locations in India including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi and Kozhikode. No chartered flights from Europe to Kerala in 2012 due to global recession

Fort Kochi Tourism Complex – a budget option for Kerala Tourists

Chellanam Agri tourism project to promote Fort Cochin-Alappuzha Corridor Tourism

Chellanam Agri tourism project launched to tap the tourism potential of the village. A detailed Fort Cochin-Alappuzha Corridor Tourism (FACT) project has been prepared by the Chellanam Agri and Tourism Development Society and submitted to the authorities concerned.

Chellanam has 15.5 km of pristine beach stretch, backwaters and rural tourism. The project was conceived in the light of the realisation that Chellanam was not utilising the heavy tourist movement between Fort Kochi on its northern end and Alappuzha on the south, both most sought after tourism destinations in the State.
