Even in Ayurveda, the selection procedures are covered so that people do not abuse policy for a process of rejuvenation of the base. Before you head for alternative treatment and make a claim, see whether the treatment is listed in the insurance policy document.

What is Vasti procedure
The  medicinal preparation is introduced into the bowel through the anus. The medicine pulls out the toxins from the entire body channels into the bowels, which are then expelled out of the body.Vasthi should be done only under the strict guidance of doctors. The periodicity of enema, the retention time, the type and amount of medicines used, food habits etc. varies from person to person. The usual recommended course is 3 or 5 vasthi.

What is Virechana procedure ?
This is usually done after proper snehapaana and three days of fomentation. Medicine shall be in any form, either liquid or powder or oil or decoction and should be taken on an empty stomach. After taking the medicine the patient should drink hot water frequently till bowel movements start. Except the hot water no other food should be taken. The patient is given plenty of water or natural fluids by mouth in order to avoid post Virechana dehydration.

Excess pitta is secreted and accumulated in the gall bladder, liver and small intestine and thus leads to rashes, skin inflammation, acne, chronic attacks of fever, biliary vomiting, nausea and jaundice.

What is Vamana Procedures ?
Consumption of the  medicated drink triggers vomiting in the patient. A drink made by mixing madanaphalam, licorice, honey or calamus root tea is given to the patient. Salt or cardamom may also be added to the medicated drink. The patient feels better after vomiting for four to eight times. This is followed with the internal administration of ghee treatment and steam bath. After taking rest for few minutes,medicated smoking is performed. Fasting is highly recommended immediately after the vamana therapy

What is Nasya procedure ?
The treatment commences with the preconditioning of the person’s body. This is a short oil massage of the head, face, and neck followed by brief steaming. Next, the person lies down comfortably with his neck slightly raised and head lowered. Drops of the warm medicine are poured into each of his nostrils and he is made to inhale deeply, while the other nostril is kept closed with the thumb. The whole process takes about 20 to 30 minutes and to get effective results it is continued for 7 to 14 days.

What is Thalam Procedure ?
Medicinal powder mixed with herbal oil is applied on the crown or forehead. Different kinds of thalam are used according the nature of the illness. It also cures conditions such as lack of memory, inability to concentrate, lack of willpower, etc. Duration of the treatment is 14 to 28 days.

What is Kativasti procedure ?
Kativasti  is an Ayurvedic process in which specially prepared warm medicated oil is kept inside the lower back with herbal paste boundary. This treatment lasts for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Before the treatment whole body is given a smooth massage

Kativasthi alleviates lower back pain and spinal disorders. The treatment helps to increase the blood circulation, strengthens muscle and connective tissues and lubricate the joints keeping them flexible and pain free.

Diseases like chronic back ache, sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis, lumbago, osteoarthritis, weakness of lower limbs etc. are treated using Kateevasthi.

What is Januvasti procedure ?
The patient has to lie on the table and a herbal boundary made of black gram is built on the knee joint area. Warm medicated oil is kept inside the herbal paste for about 25 to 30 minutes and oil is recycled periodically to keep it warm.

It promotes the strength of  the knee joint by improving the circulation. The treatment is very effective in treating different conditions of the knee joints like arthritis, degenerative conditions, etc
