Bio-diversity Park Suvarnodhyanam in CIAL, Cochin
Bio – diversity park at Cochin is open to public from yesterday, 25th February 2011. Suvarnodhyanam, bio diversity Park, has come up on the western periphery of Cochin International Airport Limited( CIAL), as a good environment initiative. Cochin, the cosmopolitan city and real estate hub, which is fast turning into a jungle of concrete buildings with few green pastures, will now have a biodiversity park where one can feel the essence of nature. The park is developed on 10 acres of forest land.
Forest Minister Benoy Viswom inaugurated the park and Fisheries Minister S. Sharma and senior officials of the Forest Department were also present at the function.
Forest Department focus on eco-friendly and sustainable solutions,initiates managing and promoting ecotourism and green key concept.Forest Department will be starting an information centre for assisting tourists to provide an insight into the basic concepts of biodiversity. The park would be a prominent center for learning and understanding the environment, and home for biologically rich and artificially waterbodies, grassland communities, number of trees as well as artistically designed plants including different varieties of canes and bamboos. Park also comprises a native flora and fauna, acts as a natural conservation of environment.

- Developing a nursery for the sale of plants and seeds.

- A Sarpa Kavu (sacred grove) along the traditional lines
BIO Diversity Park is aimed at giving a fillip to eco-tourism and promoting the area into a major Eco- tourism destination attracting domestic as well as international tourists.
