Beautiful backwaters of Kerala
The beautiful backwaters Kerala have outclassed the world-renowned destination and India’s Iconic Taj Mahal, in an international survey that rated the world’s top 133 tourist places.
The survey, conducted by National Geographic Society’s Center for Sustainable Destinations, has appeared in the latest issue of ‘Traveler’ magazine. Kerala have been placed second, among the three selected from India. Rajasthan emerging as the number one spot in India while Taj Mahal as third.
Rajasthan is rated in the world’s 19th place, the backwaters of Kerala have in the 23rd place, while Taj Mahal along with Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri placed 30th in the survey for dream destination.
According to the survey, the lakes, rivers and canals in Kerala, on which visitors ply aboard houseboats, present a unique travel and cultural experience. The judges observed that it is one of South India’s well-kept secrets and the houseboats reflecting traditional style, allow travelers to have a very relaxed vacation.
