In the first week of October India’s indigenous and the first cruise liner “Amet Cruises” is going to start its operations from Kerala. It will sail from Kochi to destinations like Maldives and Lakshadweep besides a cruise on the Kochi high seas. Thus Kochi is joining the global cruise line club.

MV Amet Majesty will now travel from Kochi to Maldives and Lakshadweep. The first cruise will set sail from Kochi on the first week of October and the itinerary will continue up to April 2012.

Amet Cruise is first Indian company to bring cruise tourism to India. The foreign cruise lines that came earlier were just traveling through a few ports and were unaffordable to the common people. But the Amet cruise is presenting tour packages that are cheap and easily affordable to the common people. The Cochin port trust is providing full support to the cruise vessel in Kochi also.

The cruise will have dance floor, disco casinos, show lounges bars, swimming pool, barbeque, conference room and kids’ zone.

The cruise also has event floor for business meets, seminars, trade shows, anniversaries and social gatherings. It comes with luxurious state rooms, suites and stag cabins.

Initially, AMET Cruises offers one high sea sailing, one two-night sailing to the Lakshwadeep and one four-night sailing to the Maldives on a weekly basis. It also operate one high-sea trip during the night for those who want to try out something new for holidaying. AMET Cruises will make cruise tourism accessible to the burgeoning urban middle-class households in the country.

Cruise tourism was becoming an increasingly sought after leisure choice in the country and once though accessible only to the rich, cruise tourism was becoming more affordable now.
